Safety First! Bi-Annual Scholarship
We are proud to be offering a new scholarship opportunity with the goal of providing some financial assistance to incoming students. Education is by far the best investment you can make, but the costs can often cause financial strain.
At Welding List, we want to give back to the community and make it easier for new students to achieve their dreams without having to worry so much about rising tuition and supply costs.
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to incoming students bi-annually and must be used towards the purchase of either tuition or tools and supplies. An essay submission is required and the winner will be chosen based on creativity, depth of knowledge and social shares. For full details, including eligibility and terms see below.

Terms of Participation
Two $500 scholarships are available every year. One is selected in February and the other in August. In order to participate, students must submit a 750 – 1000 word essay on one of the following topics:

Is There Really an Engineering Shortage?
In determining the winning submission, special attention will be given to the writer’s ability to convince the reader in an informative yet creative style.
In addition, students must share their essay on social media to at least two relevant pages or groups.
Not only will the winning submission be awarded $500, the essay will be published on this website.
The scholarship is available every February and August.
Am I Eligible?
This scholarship is available to US citizens who have been accepted into a minimum 2 year program. Special consideration will be given to those in an engineering related field. Community college and university students will both be considered.
To be considered, students must:
- Be accepted to a post secondary institution
- Have a 2.5+ GPA
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident
What do I Need to do?
Here’s the fun part.
Qualifying students must write a 750 – 1000 word essay on one of the topics listed above and submit it to medium.com. Students must also share their essay on at least 2 relevant Facebook groups.
How do I do That?
- Go to Medium.com and create an account.
- Click the green ‘Write a Story’ on the top right of the page.
- Paste your essay in the space provided.
- At the bottom of the space provided please write ‘Essay contest for WeldingList.com‘
- Highlight ‘WeldingList.com’ and press the ‘link’ icon (between the i and T)
- Type in ‘WeldingList.com’
- Click ‘Publish’
- Copy and paste the URL to your essay and email it to: [email protected]
- The link to the essay on medium.com
- Your full name, telephone number and mailing address
- A recent photo of yourself to add to the list of winners
- The name of the college you plan to attend
- Proof that you have been accepted to the above educational institution (photo of letter is fine)
Failure to include all information will register the application invalid. We will not accept any paper applications. All submissions must be made via email.
Fall – July 10th 2018
The deadline for Fall entry is July 10th, 2018, 11:59 EST and a winner will be selected by August 1st, 2018.
Winter – January 10th 2019
The deadline for Spring entry is January 10th, 2019, 11:59 EST and a winner will be selected by February 1st, 2019.
The winner will be notified by email. If the winner does not respond within 7 business days of the contact attempt, a different winner will be selected.
All funds will be paid directly to the winner who is then responsible for reporting it to financial aid. The funds will be issued the following day.
