Overall the Hobart Impact is a great mid-level hood or if you’re just looking for a quality helmet without all the features of the more expensive options. The Hobart Discovery is a solid entry level hood for those who want Hobart quality without spending a fortune. As with the others in Hobarts lineup, the Discovery features a lightweight but extremely durable shell that will last for ages. One thing that stands out with this helmet is the external controls for switching between weld and grind mode. It’s a nice feature that saves you the time of flipping up the hood, finding the right knob and then switching, especially if you are switching often. The delay and sensitivity controls are still on the inside. The viewing area is big enough for you to see the full weld and comes with several extra lens covers.
